As part of West Liberty University’s preparation for a new academic year, WLU opened the fall semester with a New Faculty Investiture and Class of 2014 Matriculation and Convocation at 4:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, in the arena of the Academic Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC).

President Robin Capehart addressed the new faculty members and new students as part of the ceremony. The ceremony was founded in 2009 and included the signing of the University Book by new faculty and the signing of the Matriculation Book by members of the freshman class.

“Each of you here today will be a part of an exciting and challenging future, a future of promise and opportunity, a future full of aspirations and anticipation,” said Capehart. “We are confident that as a truly ‘student-centered’ university, we can provide you with the intellectual tools and skills, the sense of citizenship and community service, and the practical training and real life experience that will prepare you to turn your passion, your hopes, your aspirations in to a productive and satisfying career in the rapidly changing world of tomorrow.”

When classes begin on the main campus Monday, West Liberty University officials are expecting an increase in enrollment again for 2010-11, the fifth straight year of growth.
