National Publication Lists WLU Among Best Schools in the Nation

U. S. News and World Report Ranks West Liberty as Tier One School

West Liberty University has been ranked among the nation’s best by U. S. News and World Report in their annual “Best Colleges” guide.

Out of more than 1,800 colleges and universities profiled, WLU ranked 49th in the South Region and was listed as a Tier One School for the first time.

According to the U. S. News website, “A school’s rank indicates where it sits among its peers in the 2011 ranking of colleges and universities. All the colleges in the National Universities, National Liberal Arts Colleges, Regional Universities, and Regional Colleges that are in the top three-fourths of their categories are ranked numerically.”

“We are extremely pleased to be designated as a Tier One institution in the Best Colleges guide,” stated West Liberty University President Robin Capehart.  “This form of recognition underlines what we have known throughout our efforts to transform a good college into a great university, the hard work and results achieved by our dedicated faculty and staff continue to create opportunities for students and improve the high quality of affordable education available at West Liberty University.”

The website goes on to note, “Certainly, the host of intangibles that make up the college experience can’t simply be measured by a series of data points. But for families concerned with finding the best academic value for their money, the U.S. News Best Colleges rankings provide an excellent starting point for the college search.”
