Music Students Selected for WLU’s 2024 Honors Recital

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., April 22, 2024 — West Liberty University’s Division of Music features its annual Honors Recital at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 28th, in College Hall. This recital is free and open to the public.

“The annual Honors Recital celebrates outstanding musical talent in WLU’s Division of Music. Students are selected for the Honors Recital through a competitive audition,” said Dr. Gerald Lee, Professor of Piano.

Below are brief biographies of each of the seven students performing in the Honors Recital:

Bailee Beckett is a freshman pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. She is from Shadyside, Ohio. Beckett studies French horn with Dr. Anna Stephan-Robinson. Upon graduation, she plans to teach music in public schools. 

Chase Burdick is a freshman pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. He is from Wheeling, West Virginia. Burdick studies voice with Dr. Linda Cowan. Upon graduation, he plans to teach music in public schools. 

Henry Knudsen is a freshman pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. He is from Morgantown, West Virginia. Knudsen studies piano with Dr. Lee. Upon graduation, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in piano performance. 

Sav Nelson is a junior pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Technology. He is from McMechen, West Virginia.  Nelson studies double bass with Professor Adam Har-zvi.  Upon graduation, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in jazz studies. 

Tiffany Sites is a sophomore pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in both Vocal Performance and Music Technology. She is from Keyser, West Virginia. Sites studies voice with Dr. Cowan. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in music composition. 

Alyssa Stock is a sophomore pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. She is from Wellsburg, West Virginia. Stock studies clarinet with Professor Keeheon Nam. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in music education. 

Maria Yates is a sophomore pursuing both the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and the Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance. She is from Weirton, West Virginia. Maria studies percussion with Dr. Mitchell Greco. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in Ethnomusicology.
