Meet Our New Director of the PA Program, Sarah Brammer

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Sept. 12, 2022 — West Liberty University welcomed a new director of Physician Assistant Studies recently as Professor Sarah Brammer began her tenure as program director for the graduate degree program.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to continue working at West Liberty University in the Physician Assistant Program in this new role,” said Brammer recently. “I’m excited to guide the program forward as we continue to provide a high-quality education to physician assistant students, equipping them to provide excellent care for their future patients.”

Brammer is a 2014 graduate of WLU’s inaugural class of PAs and joined the graduate degree program as a professor in 2015.

She also graduated summa cum laude from WLU in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in biology. During her undergraduate degree, she was employed as a research associate at the Schiffler Cancer Center at Wheeling Hospital.

Brammer was then employed as a Laboratory Instructing Assistant in the WLU Biology Department for four years.

Upon passing her PA boards, Brammer worked as a PA at Ohio Valley Allergy and Asthma Institute until returning to the field of education in 2015 as the academic coordinator and a faculty member for the West Liberty University PA program. She served in this position until accepting the program director position August of 2022. She also works clinically as a PA at the Center for Pediatrics at WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital where she began working in 2016.

Brammer is a 2004 graduate of Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy.

She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the Physician Assistant Education Association. She was inducted into Pi Alpha, the national physician assistant honor society, in 2015. Brammer has served as a member of the WLU Science and Engineering Fair Advisory Board since 2008.

She and her husband have four children and reside in Wheeling.

West Liberty University’s Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies degree program is a 24- month, year-round course of studies that begins each year in July. Fully accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, it includes one year of didactic, in-classroom work, and a second year of clinical rotations under the supervision of licensed clinical preceptors.

Featuring a small class size of 18 students, WLU has one of the most affordable programs in the state. With a 100 percent pass rate for three of the last five years, it is a highly ranked program that focuses on student success.
