WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Nov. 18, 2021 — The Marching Hilltoppers are entertaining the community as the holidays begin and will appear in the annual Main Street Bank “Fantasy In Lights Parade in downtown Wheeling, Friday, Nov. 19.
The parade begins at 6:30 pm and the band will be joined by the WLU Cheerleaders as they perform.
Also taking part in the parade is the WLU Student Dental Hygiene Association, which annually sponsors a float to promote good dental health at the holidays.
WLU is an official sponsor of the WTOV-9 coverage and the WTRF streaming of the parade that is a much anticipated event and includes bands, music, floats and all the tradition of a Christmas Parade, complete with Santa Claus.
The West Liberty University Marching Hilltoppers also performed holiday favorites on the balcony of Wilson Lodge at the recent opening of the Oglebay Festival of Lights held last week. This is an honor for the band and one that it has done for four consecutive years, according to Dr. Gretchen Pohlman-Bassett, director of bands.
Pohlman-Bassett also is coordinator of winds and percussions and is an assistant professor of music at WLU.
WLU’s Division of Music offers the Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education degree and the Bachelor of Music Technology degree programs.
