Make Your Topper Mark

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., April 12, 2021 — A new fundraising initiative begins this spring designed for graduating seniors and called “Make Your Topper Mark.”

Alexis Montes

“I’m thrilled to work with our graduating seniors, both undergraduate and graduate, who are receiving diplomas this spring and offer them a chance to give back and make their mark in a very special way,” said Alexis Montes, assistant director of alumni giving.

“Many seniors feel a bit of sadness or nostalgia at leaving the university that they called home for four years or more. We’ll miss them too! But by giving back to the university, it’s an important way to stay connected and remain active at WLU well into the future,” added Montes, who herself is a 2016 graduate of the WLU College of Education and Human Performance.

Seniors are encouraged to donate to an academic, athletic or student life area on campus of their choice, and by doing so, learn more about WLU’s need for private support, according to Montes who is employed by the WLU Foundation.

“One hundred percent of each gift goes directly to the area designated by the graduating student. Plus, by giving the seniors will join other generous donors and continue to receive valuable communications from their alma mater,” she said.

“They can take pride in this strong and much needed connection to the university that provided them with many memories and helped them build their future careers. We are truly grateful for our students and their support.”

More than 400 students will graduate in spring 2021 in five in-person but separate ceremonies.
