WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., May 28, 2019 — West Liberty University employs hundreds of staff, all working to make sure students receive a quality education in a campus environment that assures student success.

Every spring, students take a moment to thank the employee they deem most notable, by presenting them with the title of Staff of the Year. Director of Student Activities and Title IX Coordinator Kate Billings is once again the honoree for 2019.

“Receiving this award this year, is a huge honor. I love being able to support and work with all our of students on a daily basis in their efforts. Each year there are new challenges, but they come with great rewards with our students’ successes. All of our successful programs and events are because of their involvement! I sincerely thank our students for this honor,” Billings said.

Students nominate staff and vote for the award every spring in an election organized by the Student Government Association.

Billing’s office is responsible for educational and entertainment programs that add zest to student life and make the hilltop home. Her office is located in Rogers Hall.

Billings joined the University in January 2014 and is responsible for planning campus events and activities, supervising student clubs and overseeing the Greek life system of fraternities and sororities.

In 2018, she also assumed the role of Title IX coordinator, meaning that she is the contact person for those reporting incidents of gender-based misconduct.

A native of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Billings earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Consulting/Leadership degree from Binghamton University (New York) and a MBA from West Liberty University.

This is the fourth time Billings was singled out by students for her work. She previously received Staff of the Year in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
