The Jay Ware Quintet will close out the 2009-10 West Liberty University Concert Series Friday, March 26.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the Jay Ware Quintet is “an emerging force ‘oozing with talent.’ The Jay Ware Quintet is raw, energetic, and takes no prisoners when it comes to live performance. Molded under the tutelage of Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award nominee David Baker, LA studio legend Steve Houghton, and renown trumpeter Pat Harbison, the JWQ is extremely versatile, performing standards, contemporary, free jazz, post-modern jazz, and completely improvised works all in one sitting… their concerts are something wonderfully unique and not to be missed.”

Ware, who is Associate Director of Bands at WLU, says, “If you only attend one concert a year, that’s lame. But if so, you’ll want it to be this one.”  Irreverent, funny, and thoroughly entertaining, JWQ will delight.

The concert is free and open to the public.  It begins at 8 p. m. inside WLU’s College Hall.
