West Liberty University’s International Food Festival is a perfect way to get a taste of different cultures and countries, their food and dietary habits. It will take place from 4-7 p.m., Monday, April 7 in the College Union Ballroom and is open to the public.
There will be 24 different dishes served representing 14 different countries including: Algeria, Angola, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kosovo, Nepal, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, Spain, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey and Yemen.
WLU enjoys the presence of 55 students from 23 international countries this year, according to Mihaela Szabo, coordinator of the International Student Recruiting office. Most of these students will take part in the festival and many will be attired in native costume. There also will be a powerpoint presentation, offering a global glimpse of the various cultures involved in the event.
The International Student Office and the International Student Club’s annual Food Festival is just one of many events planned by the students and staff during the academic year.
The event also is sponsored by the Student Government Association and Housing & Student Life.
“Healthy eating has never been more popular than it is today with college students and our International Food Festival is a perfect place to try something new that is both healthy and tasty,” Szabo said. “Bon Appétit!”
