“For all our students it’s an important cultural event that helps them to try different cuisine right here on campus. The festival focuses on exposing students to other cultures and sharing. This interaction with the rest of campus is important to our international students because it builds community,” said Mia Szabo, director of International Student Enrollment. There are a total of 55 international students this semester studying and taking part in activities.

There will be dishes served representing 15 different countries including: China, El Salvador, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Romania, Spain, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Vietnam.

Visitors will receive an opportunity to try different types of food. Vegetarian options, halal and traditional meat and authentic spicy dishes will be served at the festival.

“Being an exchange student I learned that language and food are two things which truly connect people. I think food festival is an amazing opportunity to try flavors from around the world and get a taste of different cultures,” said Ammar Anis, events coordinator for the International Club.

The Club officers are: Natasha Muhametzyanova of Turkmenistan, president; Amber Harris of USA, vicepresident, Ammara Anis of Pakistan, coordinator of events and Mimi Albon of USA, marketing coordinator.
