WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Feb. 18, 2020 — The Gary E. West College of Business will offer an in-seat version of its successful online MBA program next fall at the WLU Highlands Center.

This expansion of its online MBA program came about as a result of requests from students.

Dr. Sean Ryan is shown at the Highlands Center campus.

“We began our MBA in fall of 2016 and it’s been very successful, but for many students, especially some of our international students, an in-seat version was needed. This is the same master’s degree program that has garnered good reviews, delivered in a different manner,” said Dr. Gregory Chase, Dean of the College of Business.

The MBA program is under the direction of Dr. Sean Ryan and attracts professionals seeking to advance their careers with a quality MBA that can be completed in a convenient, affordable way while students hold a full-time job.

“This in-seat cohort will meet one evening a week, from 6 – 10 p.m., for seven weeks per term. Students will finish the program in about 20 months, though it is possible to do some of the classes online and complete it quicker,” said Ryan.

“MBA degrees are still in high demand in the workplace and give you a competitive edge,” he said. “This in-seat version of our degree gives students an opportunity to interact face-to-face with instructors and other students in a traditional setting that is still very convenient.”

Ryan joined WLU about a year ago after a successful career in healthcare management. Also a retired colonel, he served 30 years in the United States Army.

The first class begins in August 2020 and applications are now being accepted.

WLU’s online MBA program is a 30-credit hour degree program with an emphasis on management, healthcare or forensic accounting. This new in-seat version is for the management track only, but can be combined with online classes to do the healthcare or forensic accounting track.
