Dr. Waller Hastings, Associate Professor of English and Chair of the Humanities Department will present “Oz and the Indians,” as part of the President’s Colloquium Series, on March 22 at Noon in the Alumni Room of the Student Union.
Hastings will focus on the editorials of L. Frank Baum, author of The Wizard of Oz and include discussions of the historical context of Baum’s editorials against the Sioux. He will also acknowledge how this part of Baum’s work might affect our way of reading his children’s books, and what the editorials tell us about ourselves today.
