WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., April 28, 2015 — West Liberty University College of Arts and Communication’s Division of Music will hold its annual Honors Recital at 5 p.m., Sunday, May 3 in Elbin Auditorium, College Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
“The annual Honors Recital celebrates and represents some of the finest musical talents in WLU’s Division of Music. Student performers are selected for the Honors Recital through a competitive audition and I’m sure that the audience will enjoy these performances,” said Dr. Gerald Lee, professor of piano.
Students to perform in the 2015 Honors Recital include:
- Celesta Berga, a senior pursuing both the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education degrees, is from St. Marys, W.Va. and is the daughter of Ronald and Joyce Berga. Berga studies voice with adjunct instructor Dr. Angela Day. Upon graduation, she plans to teach music in the public schools, and then continue her studies in vocal performance at the master’s level.
- Brandon Collins, a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Technology, is from Middlebourne, W.Va. and is the son of Matt and Amy Yeater. Collins studies percussion with Professor Brian Baldauff. Upon graduation, he plans to continue composing, performing, and recording as a freelance musician.
- Brent A. Kimball, a sophomore pursuing both the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and the Bachelor of Arts in Music Education degrees, is from Follansbee, W.Va. and is the son of Mitchell Kimball and Deborah Cline, and Lori Kimball. Kimball studies voice with Dr. Linda Cowan. Upon graduation, he plans to continue his studies in vocal performance at the master’s level.
- Robert Moore, a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance is from Martins Ferry, Ohio and is the son of Robert and Emma Moore. Moore studies percussion with Professor Brian Baldauff. Upon graduation, he plans to continue his studies in percussion performance at the master’s level.
- Ryan Wolf, a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education is from South Fayette, Pa. and is the son of Shawn and Lisa Wolf. Wolf studies trumpet with Dr. Matthew Inkster. Upon graduation, he plans to teach music in the public schools.
The Division of Music at West Liberty University offers undergraduate degrees in music education, music performance and music technology. Among its many ensembles are University Chorus, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and The Hilltopper Marching Band.
