Homecoming King, Queen Crowned at West Family Stadium

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Oct. 10, 2015 — West Liberty University students selected Justin Earl, Martinsburg, W.Va. and Mollie Phillis, Salem, Ohio, as Homecoming King and Queen 2015 on a beautiful fall day at West Family Stadium.

The crowning ceremony took place at halftime during the 1 p.m., Oct. 10 football game against the University of Charleston.

An exercise physiology major, Earl ran as an independent. Also a resident assistant, Earl is a member of the exercise physiology club and enjoys strength and conditioning. He is a senior.

Phillis was sponsored by Chi Omega and is majoring in athletic training. She is treasurer of her sorority and is vice president of recruitment for panhellenic council and is a member of the athletic training club. She is a junior.

Voting began on Oct. 7 and students placed their ballots in the College Union after much campaigning by the seven couples running for the Homecoming crown.

Also honored at the Homecoming game were the 2015 Wall of Honor alumni: from the class of 1975, Knoxville, Tennesee Arts and Culture Leader TC Cervone; from the class of 1967, Wheeling resident and Professional Educator Mike Pockl; and from the Class of 1986, Pittsburgh Banking Leader Kris Williams.

The game drew a crowd of approximately 5,000 and included tailgating, a Hilltop Harvest Festival, music and socializing.

The Marching Hilltoppers, under the direction of Professor Brian Baldauff entertained and performed both at pregame and at halftime.
