WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., July 18, 2019 — What do Olympian wrestler Bobby Douglas, Major League Baseball icon Joe Niekro and Green Bay Packer Hall of Famer Mark Murphy have in common? They’re all former members of Hilltopper athletic teams.

Athletic Advancement Coordinator Alexis Montes can be reached at 304.336.8900 or 304.336.8888.

Two-time Olympian and captain of the 1968 U.S. Wrestling Team, Douglas was a 1961 national champion at West Liberty. Niekro enjoyed a 22-year Major League Baseball career and helped lead West Liberty to the 1964 NAIA National Championship. Murphy was inducted into the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame after a 12-year NFL career after leading West Liberty to the 1979 WVIAC championship.

Today, Hilltopper Athletics are just as hard-working and high scoring, with plenty of action for fans to enjoy on the court and in the arena.
