WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., June 14, 2023 –West Liberty University’s Graphic Design students are again seeking nonprofits to partner with them for pro bono work to meet marketing and design needs.

Associate Professor of Graphic Design Sarah Davis

“Our seniors would love to work with your nonprofit to assist with marketing and graphic design work. Some of the needs we can handle include website design, marketing fliers, logo or other brand-related tools,” said Sarah Davis, associate professor of Graphic Design in the Department of Media and Visual Arts.

From left (top): Kaija Sydlowski, Ann Arbor, Mich. and Makayla Barnes, West Liberty, (bottom) Tavian Richardson, Fairmont, W.Va. and Frankie Lander, Rayland, Ohio are ready to assist nonprofits with graphic design tasks.

“It is invaluable for our students to gain real-world experience and work with actual clients. We are grateful for those who ask for our help, and it’s easy to request our service by visiting the online form found here.

The Google form must be completed by Friday, July 14, 2023, to be considered for this program. Organizations will be notified by Monday, July 31, 2023, whether a project has been selected. The scope of selected projects must allow for completion by Friday, Dec. 1, 2023.

Davis serves as an advisor for the students who participate in the Visual Communication Design studio course for Fall 2023 ART 483 VCD Studio course, which is the class that simulates the professional design studio experience and helps the students get ready for their professional careers.

Possible projects include branding systems, logo design and application, social media graphics, information design, brochures, book covers, high-end presentations, app design, animation, video, signage, and websites.

As a result of directly working with clients and team members, students provide strategically based, cost-effective, and visually compelling solutions.

Potential roles for students to work in include a combination of the following but not exclusively: team leader, account executive, art director, creative director, production manager, conceptual designer, graphic designer, researcher, design strategist, production artist, photographer, illustrator, typographer, or logo designer.

Successful recent partnerships include working with projects we’ve worked on in the past for The Children’s Home of Wheeling (rebranding and website design), Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre (rebranding and promotional items), HOH Share, Inc. & Uplift WV.
