WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Feb. 15, 2016 — West Liberty University’s mascot Topper the Bear paid a surprise visit to WesBanco recently to greet the many alumni who have found careers with the multi-state, bank holding company.

Topper acts as Chairman of the Board of alumni employed at WesBanco, Wheeling.

“Topper joined me and some of our professors in visiting the Wheeling banking center to remind our alumni just how proud we are of them. The Gary E. West College of Business has had a significant impact on the Wheeling area’s workforce and WesBanco is one of the best examples of an area employment leader that has relied on WLU to provide quality staff. We are proud of this achievement,” said Interim Dean Jean Bailey of the College of Business.

“Topper adds a bit of fun to our visit and we thank WesBanco for welcoming us all today,” she said. Also accompanying Bailey was Professors Michael Blackwell and David Wright.

“There is a long-standing relationship that exists between the College of Business and WesBanco,” agreed Vice President Jeremy R. West, who also is a WLU graduate. Dozens of WLU graduates found their career at WesBanco.

“Top rated business programs such as accounting, finance and business management make the College of Business a wonderful choice for students considering careers in banking. Also our curriculum design encourages professional networking, which is invaluable,” added Bailey.

More Topper-Stops are planned in the near future at other area employers of WLU alumni.

“We are just so proud of our College of Business alumni and their work in our community. We hope they enjoy seeing Topper as much as we enjoy seeing them,” Bailey said.

The College of Business offers students undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Entrepreneurship, Finance, General Business, Health Care Management, Management, Marketing, Sport Management and Tourism and Event Management.
