West Liberty University’s School of Professional Studies, with acknowledgements to the W.Va. Film Office and The Walkabout Company, LLC., will sponsor a film and television workshop on Saturday, Oct. 23, 10am-4pm at the Highlands Center.

The one-day workshop, “Production Assistant – Roles and Responsibilities,” is open to anyone 18 and older.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn job requirements and expectations from professionals in the film and television industry. Participants will earn an official certificate of completion at the end of the workshop.

“The workshop is an opportunity to discover the skills needed to enter the film and television industry and support the increasing demand for crew,” said Debra Warmuth of The Walkabout Company, LLC.

The cost for the workshop is $75. Students will receive a production assistant’s handbook and light refreshments.  Participants will be responsible for their own lunches.  Those registering three or more participants together will receive a discounted rate.

“The School of Professional Studies is pleased and excited about these film and television workshops,” said the School’s Dean, Dr. Thomas Michaud. “It is our aim to provide our community with various kinds of opportunities for professional development and certification. These workshops can be valuable training for those interested in entering the field of film and television work.  They are professionally designed and delivered and should be a very worthwhile experience for participants.”

Upcoming workshops in the film and television field will be “Makeup & Hairdresser Assistant” on Nov. 6 and “Wardrobe and Props Assistant” on Nov. 20.  For more information on this workshop series, please contact The Walkabout Company, LLC at (304) 242-8884 or info@gowalkabout.com.
