WLU Announces Inaugural Celebration “Aspirations” for 38th President Dr. Tim Borchers

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., January 29, 2024 — West Liberty University will celebrate the inauguration of Dr. Tim Borchers with a week of activities from April 4-10 surrounding the theme of “Aspirations.”  The inauguration is on April 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Athletic Sports and Recreational Complex (ASRC) with a reception following.

Borchers took office on July 1, 2023, after being selected in a nationwide search by WLU’s 2023 Presidential Search Committee.

“The Inauguration events will be a great opportunity to celebrate West Liberty University. It will be a time to reflect on the legacy of our past 188 years and look forward to the future.” Borchers said. “I hope that alums and community members will be able to attend at least one of our events during that week. Additional events will be added to the schedule, so check back often.”

The week of events will celebrate imagination, wellness, community, wonder, legacy, and impact. Starting with imagination on Thursday, April 4, WLU will hold its annual Hughes Lecture Series featuring Silas House in addition to The West Liberty Hilltop Players’ opening night for “Puffs.” Following will be an organ invitational and reception, a 5K run/walk, and a viewing of the partial solar eclipse. On the final day, April 10, 2024, WLU will hold its 8th annual Topper Day of Giving.

Borchers has 18 years of higher education administrative experience, serving previously as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Peru State College in Nebraska. Borchers holds a Ph.D. in Communication from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Borchers and his wife, Dr. Susanne Williams, are the parents of one adult son, Oliver.
