Dr. Sherri Theaker Joins West Liberty University as Dean of Graduate Studies

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Feb. 2, 2023 — West Liberty University selected Sherri Theaker as its Dean of Graduate Studies recently. Theaker is now leading the growing number of programs housed in the Office of Graduate Studies, located in historic Shotwell Hall.

“I’m pleased to be part of West Liberty University and look forward to serving our students and professionals seeking to advance their degrees and skills,” Theaker said.

Theaker will oversee recruitment, retention and promotion of the graduate programs. She oversees two program coordinators at this time and expects to soon add another employee to her staff to assist in the operations of the Graduate Office.

Theaker previously was employed at Wheeling University, where she was chair of the Education Department and served as accreditation coordination. She also served as a full time professor at West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

She earned her doctoral degree in curriculum instruction and special education at Ohio University, her master’s degree at Youngstown State University and her undergraduate degree Ohio State University.

A native of Colerain, Ohio, she now resides in Belmont, Ohio, and is the mother of three adult daughters.

Graduate degree programs at West Liberty University emphasize the student experience and provide a caring, quality and affordable college experience. Both online and in-seat options exist.

Master degree programs include the Master of Arts in Education, Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, Master of Science in Athletic Training, Master of Science and Master of Arts in Biology, Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, all offered in-seat.

Online or hybrid master degree programs include the Master of Science in Criminology, the MBA, the Master of Science in Dental Hygiene, the Master of Science in Speech and Hearing and the Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling degrees.

WLU also has a Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management, a 15-credit hour program, for individuals who wish to advance their professional knowledge and skills in the field of healthcare.
