WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Aug. 31, 2020 — All COVID-19 lab tests from the Aug. 14 – 17 Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department mass testing held on the West Liberty University campus are now back, according to Howard Gamble, administrator of the Health Department.

West Liberty University has a cumulative count of three and no longer has any active cases of COVID-19, according to Gamble. All active individuals are finished with monitoring and are cleared to return to work or school by the Health Department.

This mass testing was held in compliance with W.Va. Gov. Jim Justice’s request for university students, faculty and staff, to be tested at the beginning of the 2020 academic year, as students returned to classes and residence halls.

The total number of WLU tests submitted was 2,152.

Campus cleaning and sanitation is in place to disinfect areas where the positive testing individuals have been. According to health officials, the best prevention of COVID-19 spread is wearing face masks, social distancing and good hand washing and we encourage you to remain vigilant in these habits.

Additionally, the Health Department has scheduled a make-up clinic for students and staff who missed the initial clinics. This free Make-Up Clinic is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9 in the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC).
