Indianapolis, Ind., Oct. 13, 2021— West Liberty University’s Assistant Provost Dr. Jeremy Larance was named to Complete College America‘s Impatient Reformers recently.

Dr. Jeremy Larance

“I am extremely proud of West Liberty University’s reputation of being a nationally recognized leader of student success, in some cases doubling the pass rates of our most at-risk students and continuing to close inequity gaps that have unfairly hindered the potential of far too many students. And I cannot understate how integral CCA has been, providing their resources and expertise to help us build upon the success of others. I love the fact that, as a Content Expert, I will have the opportunity to help other schools and state systems develop their own initiatives and programs,” said Larance, who is an English professor who has taught at WLU since 2005.

Larance is part of the latest cohort of CCA Impatient Reformers to join their existing community of Content Experts. According to CCA, these professionals represent the nations’ leading experts in implementing strategies that shape the college completion movement and contribute to eliminating institutional performance gaps.

“We are pleased that Dr. Jeremy Larance from West Liberty University will work with us to advance our bold success strategies,” said Yolanda Watson Spiva, CCA’s CEO.

A native of Arkansas, Larance earned his undergraduate degree in English from the University of the South (Sewanee, Tenn.). He then earned a master’s in English Literature from Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La. and a doctoral in English at University of Tulsa (Okla.).

Content Experts are a select group of higher education practitioners, researchers, and leaders who have dedicated themselves to student success and equity, as well as implementing CCA’s pillars of student success strategies to guide transformation at colleges and universities. Content Experts work closely with CCA, to share their knowledge with higher education leaders across the country.

As a teacher and administrator, Larance has played an instrumental role in developing several of West Liberty University’s student success initiatives, including open education resources, degree pathways, multiple measures for placement, and co-requisite courses in composition and math.

Since 2009, CCA has worked extensively with states, systems, and consortia to advance the college completion movement. Content Experts support CCA’s mission and ensure that institutions have the tools and expertise needed to successfully implement data-proven strategies to support the success of their students.

“We look forward to working with and learning from this group of experts and change makers who are known for closing institutional performance gaps for minority students and solving some of the most important higher education issues in our country,” said Spiva.

Complete College America is a national advocate for dramatically increasing college completion rates and closing institutional performance gaps. CCA works with states, systems, institutions, and partners to scale highly effective structural reforms and promote policies that ultimately improve student success.
