Commencement to be Celebrated Dec. 15

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Dec. 4, 2018 — West Liberty University will graduate 140 students at Fall Commencement 2018, which will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC).

President Stephen Greiner will preside at the ceremony and confer the degrees upon graduates. Todd Clossin, president and CEO of WesBanco, will be the commencement speaker.

Senior Meagan Ford, from Silver Spring, Md., will be the graduating student speaker.

She is graduating from the Gary E. West College of Business with an accounting degree and plans on taking the CPA exam, then finding employment in Washington, D.C. Eventually Ford wants to open her own business.

“I’m looking forward to graduation and am honored to be the student speaker. West Liberty University has prepared me mentally for a career in accounting that’s for certain, but I also feel capable of getting a job in any business field thanks to my degree,” she added.

Her commencement speech will detail her thoughts on personal growth during college.

The Commencement Ceremony will be televised live on WLU-TV 14 (Comcast Channel 14) and online at wltvonline.com.

New to this ceremony will be the addition of the Main Street Bank video board, a 9-foot by 16-foot screen with LED 4K (ultra high definition) technology. It will offer a live feed of the ceremony with close-ups of graduates as they pick up their diplomas.

Doors will open for seating at 9:30 a.m. and tickets are not required for Fall Commencement. Parking will be available for guests behind the ASRC. A reception for graduates, guests and families will be held in the College Union immediately following the ceremony.
