Director of TRIO Upward Bound Chris McPherson,

“I am excited to continue providing quality support services to students — now at the high school level — and partner with John Marshall and Weir High Schools. As a first-generation college graduate, I understand how challenging it can be to adequately prepare for the pursuit of a postsecondary degree while also learning how to navigate the college admissions process. Our team looks forward to assisting students in the Upward Bound Math-Science program strengthen their skills and prepare for success in college and their future careers,” McPherson stated.

McPherson’s new position was made possible by U.S. Department of Education grants announced recently by the Commission that provided $3 million to help low-income students in the Northern Panhandle who will be the first in their families to earn a postsecondary credential or degree.
