ANNUAL HONORS RECITAL TO SHOWCASE TOP TALENT AT WEST LIBERTY UNIVERSITY

To celebrate the finest in musical talent in West Liberty University’s Music Department, the annual Honors Recital will be held on Sunday, May 1st at 3:00 p.m. in the Elbin Auditorium of College Hall on the university’s main campus here.

Student performers are selected for the Honors Recital through a competitive audition, adjudicated by esteemed off-campus professional musicians.

The judges for this year’s honors recital auditions are Mari Howells, faculty member for the Community Music School at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania; Dr. Alanna Keenan, voice professor at Franciscan University of Steubenville; and Dr. Gary A. Viebranz, Director of Instrumental Ensembles at Penn State Erie, the Behrend College.

The four honorees in this year’s recital are:

PATRICK BALL is a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Technology.  He is from Wheeling, West Virginia and the son of Barbara and Patrick Ball.  Patrick studies marimba with Professor Jay Ware.  Upon graduation, he plans to pursue a songwriting career in Nashville, Tennessee.

ALAN CLINE is a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance.  He is from Wellsburg, West Virginia and the son of Ruth Ann and Wayne Cline.  Alan studies voice with Dr. Linda Cowan.  Upon graduation, he plans to pursue graduate degrees in both vocal performance and orchestral conducting.

ALEXANDRA PERKINS is a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance.  She is from Dublin, Ohio and the daughter of Michael Perkins and Paula Lambert, and the late Linda Perkins.  Alexandra studies voice with Dr. Angela Day.  Upon graduation, she plans to continue her studies in vocal performance at the master’s level.

KASSIDY GRACE WELLS is a sophomore pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance.  She is from Wellsburg, West Virginia and the daughter of Marianne and Jeff Cunningham.  Kassidy studies voice with Dr. Linda Cowan.  Upon graduation, she plans to continue her studies in vocal performance at the master’s level.
