WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Aug. 21, 2019 — West Liberty University’s Gary E. West College of Business was recognized recently by College Consensus for having one of the Best Online Master’s in Accounting Programs for 2019.

“We are pleased that our MBA program has been named by College Consensus as one of the best in the country. As we begin another academic year, it is a good news for both our students and our faculty,” said Dr. Gregory Chase, dean of the College of Business.

Students can complete the WLU MBA in as little as 12 months and admission to the program is on a rolling admission basis.

“Online education is booming but not all online programs are created equal. With potential online students wanting the best schools with the greatest affordability, most convenience, and highest ROI, College Consensus has put together the top programs in the country with these high standards,” said Carole Taylor, marketing director for College Consesus.

By researching over 600 schools across the county, the College Consensus list ranks the very best online accounting master’s degree programs, according to its website collegeconsensus.com. Each program was evaluated by their convenience, affordability, and reputation to give students the best list of accounting degrees to help them reach their career goals.

Affordability (33%): Every program was ranked upon their base tuition cost. These figures were found on each university’s website. The tuition was calculated for the whole accounting degree, but it does not include fees or books. The scores were inverted and placed on a 100-point scale to find the affordability score.

Convenience (33%): Convenience is an important factor to take into account, especially for working professionals. This criterion was based upon the online format and the GMAT/GRE requirement. Accounting master’s with no requirement for GMAT/GRE scores, and which can be completed 100% online, receive full marks in this category. Every degree has an online format score and GMAT score, which was averaged to make the convenience score.

WLU was ranked at 100 percent for convenience and 94.62 percent on affordability.

Reputation (33%): The reputation for each degree was taken from scores by The EconomistUS News and World Report, and Bloomberg Businessweek. These scores were average and placed on a 100-point scale to find each program’s reputation score. (Small public colleges like WLU scored low in this category due to the long-standing reputation enjoyed by big Ivy League schools and large state universities.)
