COVID-19 Positive Tests Update
September 08, 2020WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Sept. 8, 2020 — Since Friday, Sept. 4, West Liberty University has had additional positive COVID-19 cases reported by its students. These positive tests are not part of the initial mass testing done on campus and are positive results self-reported from tests taken at a variety of clinics.
The number is not confirmed at the moment so more information will be released soon on the actual count, according to Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department Administrator Howard Gamble.
All these individuals have been sent home or are in isolation. Contact tracing is being handled by the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department.
Campus cleaning and sanitation is in place to disinfect areas where the positive testing individuals have been. According to health officials, the best prevention of COVID-19 spread is wearing face masks, social distancing and good hand washing and WLU encourages all students, staff, faculty and visitors to remain vigilant in these habits.
WLU will continue to update campus and the public as the positive results are confirmed by the Health Department. For complete information on WLU’s response to the pandemic, please visit wlibertydev.wpenginepowered.com/coronavirus.
