The West Liberty University Concert Artist Series celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2014-2015!

The Concert Artist Series is organized and sponsored by the Division of Music and dates all the way back to 1964 (see below). Each year, the series brings world-class musicians and performing artists to the West Liberty campus for free concerts (open to the public) and artist masterclasses. Events occur in Elbin Auditorium, Kelly Theater, or the Interfaith Chapel.
The 52nd Season – please join us in celebration of more than 50 years of world-class musical performances on the Hilltop!

 

C-Street Brass Quintet

C Street Brass, the ensemble in residence at Carnegie Mellon University for three years, proudly calls Pittsburgh home. If you hear brass music coming from downtown, chances are it’s C Street Brass playing on the street honing material for a new show. Aside from busking, house parties, and club dates with their alter-ego, C Street Brass has been on a variety of chamber music series including: Corpus Christie Chamber Music Series, Corpus Christie, TX, Community Concerts Second Series, Baltimore MD, and their own series at Carnegie Mellon. In addition to being in residence at Carnegie Mellon, C Street Brass has also held residencies at WBJC the Classical Radio voice of Baltimore, Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, MD.

Recently the group has held shorter-term residencies focused on education in Orcas Island Washington, Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA and they look forward to returning to University of South Carolina. Internationally, C Street Brass has toured in Tbilisi, Georgia as Resident ensemble of the Traveling Notes Music Festival in 2012 and to Doha, Qatar in 2013 as ambassadors for Carnegie Mellon University.

C Street Brass loves collaborating with other artists to create new exciting concert atmospheres for our audiences. In 2010 the group premiered “Two Pieces for Brass Quintet and Organ” by composer David Conte with famous organist and scholar Donald Sutherland. Recently, C Street Brass has been working closely with DJ, Jakeisrain blending different genres of classical music with current electronic dance music to create their alter-ego, Beauty Slap.

David Leonhardt’s passion is to bring the jazz and creative music experience to as many people in the world as he can in a way that allows them to be transported to a higher plain of thought and emotion.

David Leonhardt, jazz pianist and composer, is a highly skilled and versatile artist. His fourty years of professional experience has included recordings, T.V. and radio, concerts and festivals, night clubs and stage shows. He has appeared internationally throughout North and South America, Europe, the Middle and Far East with some of the biggest names in jazz. He leads his own concert ensemble The David Leonhardt Jazz Group and is the founder and president of Big Bang Records with twenty five CDs as a leader. Mr. Leonhardt is on the roster of The Pennsylvania Arts On Tour and gives educational clinics worldwide.
