WLU Concert Series: The Jay Ware Jazz Quintet (March 26 2010)

Friday, March 26 2010
The Jay Ware Jazz Quintet
8pm Elbin Auditorium, College Hall

An emerging force “oozing with talent”, the Jay Ware Quintet is raw, energetic, and takes no prisoners when it comes to live performance. Molded under the tutelage of Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award nominee David Baker, L.A. studio great Steve Houghton, and renown trumpeter Pat Harbison, the quintet has performed throughout the nation and serve as Artists in Residence at the Williamston Jazz Gala. In addition to their role as performers, the JWQ are avid educators and advocates for jazz education in schools and universities. Jay Ware serves as the Associate Director of Bands at West Liberty University and pianist Amy Rempel is a Visiting Professor of Music at Indiana University. The JWQ will also be the featured clinicians for the first-annual Tri-State Select Honor Jazz Ensemble at West Liberty University (March 25-27), offering clinics, masterclasses, and performing alongside participants.
