Art Prof to Present Paper at International Conference

Skypapalooza Room SetupAssociate Professor of Art, Jim Haizlett, recently had a paper accepted for presentation at SITE 2010–Society for Information Technology & Teacher Education International Conference to be held in San Diego, CA; March 29-April 2, 2010. The paper: Skypapalooza! How the West Virginia Animation Festival used Skype and Streaming Video to Connect Remote Student Participants to the Live Awards Event was selected as a result of rigorous peer review from more than 1000 submitted proposals.

The paper presents a case study for the use of streaming video to connect remote participants to West Liberty’s annual West Virginia Flash Animation Festival.

The paper is available for download and review at Skypapalooza! Paper

Ty Crawford, a WLU Digital Media Design major, created a companion video that shows the role streaming video played in the event. The video can be viewed by clicking here.

The entire video team from West Liberty’s Media Arts Center is to be congratulated, because it was their expertise, under the direction of Theresa Gretchen, that made the streaming video event a success. West Liberty’s media arts program will be given an international spotlight during the SITE Conference.
