2018 MAD Competition FAQ

What are the prizes?

Who is eligible?

The college portion of the competition is only open to currently enrolled West Liberty University students. The High School portion is open to students in grades 10 – 12, who are currently enrolled in a public high school, private high school, or home school in the states of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

When Can I Enter?

Entries will be accepted and uploaded to this website between February 15th and March 10th, 2018. Entries will only be accepted online.

How much does it cost to enter?

It is free to enter your work in the competition.

How do I enter?

Between February 15, and March 10, click on the SUBMIT YOUR ENTRIES HERE tab and select ‘High School’ or ‘WLU Students’ entry. Fill out the form and upload your file(s).

How many pieces may I enter?

High Schoolers may only enter two pieces of work. They can be in the same category, or you may choose to enter in two different categories. West Liberty University students may enter up to a total of four pieces.

 

Are there any content restrictions?

Since this is an educational festival with a public viewing, cable TV, and online delivery, all accepted entries will be limited to a PG type rating. Excessive or gratuitous violence, language, sexual material, or other questionable content may be restricted from the competition at the discretion of the jurors and/or festival coordinators.

Website and other interactive entries only require a  link to a working URL.

 

Who are the jurors for the competition?

There will be four jurors with specialties in Motion, Imaging, Illustration, and Audio. The jurors bios are available on the Presenter Bios page.

 

When will I know if I won?

Award announcements will be made during the MAD Festival Awards Ceremony, on the morning of Friday, April 6th. The ceremony will take place in College Hall on the campus of West Liberty University. In the event that you cannot make it to the festival your award will be mailed to you.
