Due to COVID-19, WLU’s Community University is now on hiatus. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. Please visit westliberty.edu/coronavirus for more information on WLU’s response to the pandemic. Thank you!
When in session, Community University offers learning opportunities to people age 55 and older and relies on volunteer presenters who engage older adults as livelong learners. Community University programs include study topics from the arts and literature, sciences and technology, history, religion, business and commerce, current events – and other suggested topics (excluding “arts and crafts” activities). Fee is $25 per person/student to attend.
Community University typically offers two terms annually: a spring term and fall term. Classes are held at the West Liberty University Highlands Center, unless otherwise noted. Community University welcomes ideas for educational offerings that can be presented as:
- Single lecture/discussion (1.5 – 2 hrs.)
- 4-week course (1.5 -2 hrs. per session)
- 6 or 8 week course (1.5 -2 hrs. per session)
- “Flex-Schedule” allows presenter to instruct course any time during the term. Example: the course could be offered in a one-week period during the term. (1.5- 2 hrs. session)
