During this time of national emergency we assure you that WLU is concerned about its campus community.
From the weeks of March 16 – April 5, we plan to remain open and operational in accordance with CDC guidelines and state mandates. We continue to monitor this unprecedented situation carefully. If at any time the situation demands us to make a different decision, the President and administration are prepared to do so.
As you are aware, preparation is currently underway to alter the methods for academic delivery, both faculty and staff are utilizing virtual conference calls where possible, non-essential travel has been discontinued, large events canceled, limited use of facilities and more to ensure we are following CDC guidelines.
WLU’s administration is grateful for the cooperation of its staff and faculty. In general, faculty and staff should work with their supervisors if an alternative work arrangement is needed.
To address illness, quarantine or dependent care, a certification of such is available at Certification. A Self-monitoring log is available for employees experiencing illness.
If an employee meets the CDC’s requirements for self-quarantine, or has a dependent that needs care due to a school closure, the Supervisor/Cabinet administrator for the department may have a work from home option. If there is not a work from home option, the employee may use sick leave (or annual leave if there is no sick leave) for up to 14 calendar days.
If an employee just feels unsafe but does not meet CDC’s requirements for self-quarantine, the Supervisor/Cabinet administrator may have a work from home option. If there is not a work from home option, the employee may use annual leave for up to 7 calendar days.
