Instructor Mehlman-Brightwell has been teaching a combination of English and communications courses since 2007 and currently teaches fundamentals of oral
communication, media sales, and news writing at West Liberty University. She
serves as an assistant editor of the Journal of Communications Media Studies at
Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her research interest examines broadcasters
changing dimensions of mass communication through new media.

She is originally from the Ohio Valley and received her undergraduate degrees in
English and professional communications at Wheeling Jesuit University in 2007.
Her Master of Arts degrees are in education from Muskingum University and in
English with a specialization in professional writing and rhetoric from Bowling
Green State University. Currently, Instructor Mehlman-Brightwell is continuing
her education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s doctoral program in
communications media and instructional technology.
