Walter Croft worked as a building contractor of custom homes, custom cabinets and furniture. His interest in sculpture began when he started carving fresh water fish.
“At this time I realized I had an inherited talent. My mother used to sclupt from clay. My uncle is an accomplished water color painter,” says Croft.
Croft was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was raised in south Georgia. He later joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Quonset Point Navel Base in Rhode Island. “When my tour was over, I stayed in Rhode Island, where I now reside in Coventry. I am now retired and work part-time for Woodcraft in Rhode Island, a national chain which specializes in woodworking tools,” says Croft.
