Paint Historic Wheeling

Join members of Artworks Around Town for a weekend of outdoor painting to commemorate West Virginia’s 150th Birthday!

Receptions, artist workshops and public art shows will take place throughout the weekend for artists to share inspiration and for the public to see the beauty of our city through the eyes of talented artists.

Once again WLU is sponsoring the events keynote speaker as well as providing food for the event. “This is an opportunity for the Art Program at WLU to work with our great community partners, encourage our students to get out and paint and continue to broaden the training of our students and community members” stated Art Department Chair Brian Fencl. WLU’s special guest this year is painter Christopher Seubert. He is an excellent teacher and an ideal person to lead a workshop for artists interested in drawing and painting cityscapes. Here is a brief bio for the keynote speaker:

As a painter and draughtsman, Christopher has participated in-group exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Dahesh Museum in Manhattan, and has appeared in American Artist Magazine. He participated in the Prince of Wales Institute and the New York Academy of Art sponsored plein-air painting program hosted by Christopher Forbes in Balleroy, Normandy, France. This past summer he exhibited in a group show at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz entitled “Out of the Studio.” Currently he is teaching at Marist College and at the Barret Art Center in Poughkeepsie, New York.
