My art is inspired by nature and the magnificent beauty of the world around me, while simultaneously serving as an expression of my inner world. I work in a wide range of materials- from digital art and photo editing to acrylics and 3D materials. My creative process involves thorough planning as well as deep self-reflection to find ways to tether a piece of myself and my experiences to each piece I create. As such, each finished artwork is a manifestation of my life, my values, and my dreams. Portfolio.

The reason why that I chose the graduate Art Therapy and Counseling Program is because I always loved helping other people no matter what the situation is the challenges that they are facing. I also receive help in the same way and I believe it is important to give back to others. I also love doing art, in general, and for various reasons. Art helps increase my self-esteem, confidence, and I always believe that art feels like therapy. My art instincts help me become a better problem solver when I do it. Sometimes people experience self-doubt and fear when they face a new challenge in art. I want to show that no matter the challenges or self-doubt we have, artwork expresses uniqueness, which has value and can inspire others. Portfolio.

For as long as I can remember, I had a pencil in my hand. I was eager to learn new techniques, pestering my family members to draw with me. Having drawing competitions with my neighbors, and taking the longest to finish my art projects at school. Finally, my mom found an art teacher in our small town. I learned so many techniques from her that I continue to use today. I loved the challenges and exercises she gave me, and realized how powerful artwork really was. It was a craft, a craft that I was nurturing. I realized that I was going to do something with it. It was going to be my key in finding fulfillment in this lifetime. Portfolio.

I invite you to take a deep breath. Did you notice it? There is a moment before every inhale and after every exhale where there is complete stillness. For less than a millisecond, there is nothing. But although brief, that fleeting moment exists; and I have become quite connected to its presence. My personal meditation upon the absence of breath constitutes some element of transformation. A relationship between movement and growth merged with calmness and serenity transcends energy. And how can it be? That in that moment one is so still, yet utterly alive! This manifestation of energy is what stimulates my mind and inspires my creative handiwork. Portfolio.

It is my desire to channel my thoughts and emotions onto paper, into sculpture, or any other medium I choose. I firmly believe art offers a glimpse into one’s soul – this is also why I am of the mind art therapy is the perfect means through which to channel the issues and concerns one may have, offering a positive and encouraging way for people to express these dilemmas in a safe and positive environment. Through art, the therapist and client can form a deeper connection that allows them to understand what concerns and conundrums must be worked out. Art also provides a visual roadmap for resolving these obstacles – and it is through creating and discussing the art the client can truly begin to heal. Portfolio.
