ALUMNI “WALL OF HONOR” The West Liberty University Alumni Board of Directors instituted a project in 1990 to demonstrate to current students, visitors, and friends that the college has some very successful graduates. This project, known as the “Alumni Wall of Honor,” is a dramatic way to honor some of the college’s most distinguished alumni and display pride in the accomplishments of its graduates. The concept was suggested by then Associate Professor of Physics Robert W. Schramm, who is a 1958 graduate of the college and a 2002 Alumni Wall of Honor inductee. The Alumni Wall of Honor is housed in the south end of the Union known as the Alumni Lounge.
Thomas “TC” A Cervone
Inducted 2015As a high school student, Thomas A. “TC” Cervone took part in a program for talented fine arts students, working with WLU icons Stanley Harrison and Dr. Helen Kelly. He enjoyed it so much that he returned the following January of 1972 to earn his degree and begin his professional journey in theatre.
Cervone now serves as executive director for Dogwood Arts, a non-profit that promotes eastern Tennessee’s art, cultural and natural beauty. He has dedicated his career to the advancement of the arts and culture industry, as well as the nonprofit sector. He previously served as the first executive director of the Historic Tennessee Theatre Foundation, a nonprofit established to preserve the historic Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville.
Prior to that, Cervone spent 23 years managing University of Tennessee’s Clarence Brown Theatre, a professional theatre in residence at UT, Knoxville (UTK). Cervone was active in the UTK community, serving on many student, staff and faculty organizations. He also received the Chancellor’s Citation for Outstanding Service to UT in 2010.
Cervone serves on the board of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Greater Knoxville, the advisory board for the College of Business at Maryville College, the board of the WordPlayers and River and Rail Theatre companies and the board for Leadership Knoxville. He also is a graduate of Leadership Knoxville 2011
A longtime member of the Actors’ Equity Association, Cervone earned his undergraduate degree in speech and English with an emphasis in theatre from WLU and a master’s of fine arts and MBA from UT. In 2014, WLU honored Cervone for his significant gift to the Kelly Theatre Encore Campaign by giving its Green Room his name.
He is married to Susan Creswell and they reside in Knoxville.
