ALUMNI “WALL OF HONOR” The West Liberty University Alumni Board of Directors instituted a project in 1990 to demonstrate to current students, visitors, and friends that the college has some very successful graduates. This project, known as the “Alumni Wall of Honor,” is a dramatic way to honor some of the college’s most distinguished alumni and display pride in the accomplishments of its graduates. The concept was suggested by then Associate Professor of Physics Robert W. Schramm, who is a 1958 graduate of the college and a 2002 Alumni Wall of Honor inductee. The Alumni Wall of Honor is housed in the south end of the Union known as the Alumni Lounge.
Pamela Quinones
Inducted 2011Born and raised in Wellsburg, W.Va., Pam Quinones earned a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene from West Liberty State College in 1973. She relocated to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area in 1976. She resides in Derwood, Md., with her husband of 34 years, Manny. They have three adult children. Pam currently serves as the President of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association.
She has served in numerous positions with ADHA including president-elect, vice president and District III trustee. She served as president of the Maryland Dental Hygienists’ Association and of the Montgomery County Dental Hygienists’ Association.
After practicing clinical dental hygiene for a number of years, Quinones founded Hygiene Associates, Inc. The company is a dental employee referral service, continuing education and consulting company in the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area. For several years she worked as a volunteer with the Montgomery Volunteer Dental Clinic and served as its president from 2002-2004. The clinic serves people within the federal poverty level who have no access to dental care, and is funded by private grants. She is also co-founder and charter member of the Washington Metropolitan Dental Hygiene Council.
Her dedication to the profession of dental hygiene and to the excellence of patient care has earned her a number of awards including the ADHA Distinguished Service Award, the MDHA Symbol of Excellence Award, and recognition by the Who’s Who of Women Executives. While at West Liberty, Quinones was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.
