Obituary for Victor Weirich Rush

Victor Weirich Rush, 84, of Wheeling, died December 29th at home with family by his side.
He was born January 12, 1932, the son of the late Victor S. and Gertrude Annabelle Weirich Rush.
Victor, a Fulbright scholar to the University of Singapore, was a lifelong educator and academic who taught history at Wheeling Park, Triadelphia, and Bellaire high schools, and at Lincoln Vocational Jr. High.
A graduate of West Liberty State College where he was a pitcher for the baseball team, and West Virginia University, he was also an Army veteran having served During the Korean War in Korea and Japan. He played special services baseball while serving in Japan.
He’s preceded in death by his wife Marguerite Kathleen Thoner Rush, and his parents.
He is survived by his son John Victor Rush and John’s fiancée Daniele Bougher; his daughter, Carol Marie Rush; his brother, Richard S. Rush and his wife Debra of Bemidji, MN; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV, 26003 (304-232-2732) from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, and Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 10 am until time of service at 11 am at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Rev. Kenneth M. Hardway officiating.
Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
