Shawn Aaron Schoonmaker, of Wellsburg, WV took his last off road journey to heaven on Tuesday, August 30, 2016.
He was born February 29, 1984 in Wheeling, WV son of Rick and Beth (Soltis) Schoonmaker of Follansbee, WV.
Shawn graduated from Brooke High School in 2002 and earned his bachelor’s degree in computer information technology from West Liberty University. He was most recently employed at FedEx Corporation as an associate technical analyst.
Shawn was a free spirit who lived life to the fullest! His passion included riding his Honda TRX 450R with family and friends. Out of enjoyment of riding, he created the Brooke County WV Off Road Facebook page with 600+ members. He loved playing his guitar, skateboarding, playing computer games, kayaking, and fishing with his buddies. Health and fitness was a daily part of his life spending time working out with his brother and friends. His loves extended to his pet snake Striker.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Joshua Ryan Schoonmaker 1983, his maternal grandparents, Cleo “Pat” and Andy Soltis, and paternal grandfather, Donald Schoonmaker.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother Dustin Schoonmaker and companion Kayla Beatty of Follansbee, WV, his paternal grandmother, Charlotte “Ces” Schoonmaker of Avon Park, FL and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 4 from 5-8 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV. A vigil service will be held on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 1017 Jefferson St. Follansbee, WV 26037 with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Gallagher as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery in Wellsburg, WV.
