At the age of 82, Richard Kent Markwell passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013. Richard is a graduate of WLSC with his B.A. degree where he was a piano student of Ida Hertz. He then received his Master’s Degree in music from Duquesne University. His work and career experience included Allegheny Ludlem Steel Corp., Martin’s Ferry BOE Instrumental and Vocal Music, Indian Creek School District High Choir from Buchanan Jr. High School as Instrumental Music Instructor. He also worked at Covenant Presbyterian Church as choir director and occasional soloist and Wintersville United Methodist Church as choir director and pianist.
