Margene Schmeichel Thomas, formerly of Chester, N.J., died on Monday afternoon July 20, 2015, at her home in Enfield, N.H.
Margene was born in Wheeling, WV, on June 22, 1944. She was the first of three daughters of Eugene and Margaret Schmeichel.
Margene attended Triadelphia High School in Wheeling, WV, graduating 1962. She then continued on to West Liberty University in West Liberty where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1966.
She met and married her husband, Keith, in June 1967. They moved to Chester, NJ and began building their home and family in 1968.
After raising three children, Margene went to work at Dun & Bradstreet in 1985, where she climbed the corporate ladder from part-time sales consultant to full- time sales manager. When she retired in July 2006, she and her husband were able to finish building their new home on Lake Mascoma. They moved permanently to Enfield in June 2013.
Margene had an abundance of energy and a tireless ability to work most days she could be found either working in the gardens or on her home.
In addition, she enjoyed walking with her friends, playing Mahjong and spending time with her three grandchildren. She always loved to be surrounded by friends and family.
Margene was predeceased by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Thomas of Enfield, N.H.; her three children, daughter, Heather Comfort of Fairfield, CT, son, Dr. Matthew Thomas of Minocqua, WI., daughter, Holly Landsittel of Wayland, MA; her beloved grand children, Maya, Steven and Ryan; and her two sisters, Donna Silberstrom of Colorado and Cindy McMasters of Ohio.
