“Jerry” Schmitt faught a courageous battle for nine years with cancer, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his home with family. Jerry was a graduate of West Liberty State College in 1971, with a degree in economics. He went on to receive his Master’s from Ohio University. He was a Chartered Financial Analyst and was executive vice president of WesBanco Bank in Wheeling where he spent 40 years employed there. He was also president of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley. Jerry was survived by his wife of 41 years Jeaana, her parents Bill and Dorothy Grubler. His three children Amy Bowman, and two sons Luke and Jerome. Also surviving Jerry is his four brothers and two sisters: Eugene, Lawrence, William, Peter, Susan Nau (Mike), and Patricia Hartman (Michael).
