Betty Lee Harstad-Whyte passed away in her home June 4, 2012, with her family along side her. Betty graduated cum laude at West Liberty and received her master’s degree from WVU. Betty worked as a teacher at John Marshall High School, and she retired from the Oregon Public School System after teaching science/biology at Umapine High School where she was also vice principal. In retirement Betty loved to garden and her home in Washington State was featured in the local newspaper. Betty was also a great cook and loved to bake. Betty is survived by husband Donald Whyte, daughters Pamela Allen and Barbara Steger and Patricia Hutton. Also surviving Betty, her sister Wilma Artimez, her grandchildren Tim Steger and Katie Schwab, and her great grandchildren Calvin and Carter Schwab and Addison and Caroline Steger.
