Gaston, Bernie, Tim, and John meet at Wheeling Island Buffet about every six weeks to keep in touch. Brotherhood; laughter; food; and maybe a slot or two.
I retired after 40 years in the high voltage electrical equipment industry. I now have a part time job at Macy’s at the Washington Crown Center Mall. My wife and I will be celebrating 37 years of marriage in May and are very proud of our 2 children, Adam and Amanda, both graduates of WL.
Playing a lot of golf and attending many WLU football and basketball games and staying very active with the WL alumni.
Miles Bauer, 68, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Miles graduated from West Liberty College in sales in the Trucking Industry. He started Bauer Building Company in Port Clinton, OH. Miles is survived by his son Erik.
Still teaching physical education 3 days a week at St. Marys Catholic School in Marietta, Ohio; a Trustee for Muskingum Township, celebrated our 40th wedding Anniversary with my lovely wife Debbie (Horel); has 3 children and 7 grandkids. What a wonderful life. Loving the success of WL’s basketball team, and taught Ben Howlett in gym class through 8th grade. Give ’em Hell WL!!
“Jerry” Schmitt faught a courageous battle for nine years with cancer, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his home with family. Jerry was a graduate of West Liberty State College in 1971, with a degree in economics. He went on to receive his Master’s from Ohio University. He was a Chartered Financial Analyst and was executive vice president of WesBanco Bank in Wheeling where he spent 40 years employed there. He was also president of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley. Jerry was survived by his wife of 41 years Jeaana, her parents Bill and Dorothy Grubler. His three children Amy Bowman, and two sons Luke and Jerome. Also surviving Jerry is his four brothers and two sisters: Eugene, Lawrence, William, Peter, Susan Nau (Mike), and Patricia Hartman (Michael).
