Forever Hilltopper: Ohio Valley Alumni Chapter Off to a Great Start

Forever Hilltopper West Liberty University welcomed officers and members of the new Ohio Valley Alumni Chapter during a recent Hilltopper basketball game at the Academic Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC).

“The Ohio Valley alumni are the heart of the West Liberty alumni association since these are our graduates that are closest to campus. We are thrilled with the turnout this past Saturday and look forward to continuing this momentum. We encourage all our alumni to get involved and enjoy and renew their time as Hilltoppers,” said Christine Carder ‘72, president of the new group.

The next Ohio Valley Alumni meeting is planned for 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, in the Alumni Room, Student Union.

All Ohio Valley alumni are welcomed to attend.

Three other Ohio Valley alumni officers are assisting in the organization of the new group: Christine Warco Battista ’10, Joelle Connors ’03, Ingrid Loy ’96 and Billy Niesslein ’08.

“I’m happy that the Ohio Valley Alumni group now has a presence and is meeting and planning events. Our officers are working to create a useful network of contacts and to offer a variety of events to enjoy. I’m grateful for their work,” said Director of Alumni Relations Shane Stack ’10.

More than 135 alumni returned to the Ohio Valley Tip-Off party, held Feb. 23, just before the WLU versus rival Wheeling Jesuit basketball game. The Hilltopper women won, 67-56 and the men won 101-76.

“The game was exciting and it was good to reconnect with so many friends. We will continue to offer programs and events to enjoy both professionally and socially,” said Carder.
