2012 Florida Alumni Chapter Reunion

The Florida Alumni Chapter is already planning the 2012 reunion, which we hope to make the biggest WL reunion ever!  The 2012 reunion will be held “in season,” which means that the “snowbirds” will still be in the area. The dates of the reunion are scheduled for April 13-15, 2012 at the Marriott Florida Resort at Hutchinson Island in Stuart, Fla.

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Lou Piccone ’72 WL graduate and former NFL player for the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills will be a special guest and keynote speaker at the reunion. Piccone will be joining us for the entire weekend! You won’t want to miss hearing his remarkable story…the (winding) road to the NFL!

The state of Florida has one of the largest WLU alumni populations in the country. While the Alumni Association as a whole has grown, the Florida Chapter has not grown and that is what we endeavor to change. We are calling this event…A NEW BEGINNING, which clearly signals that since times have changed, our Florida Chapter will also be transitioning into this new era. We intend to keep our Florida alumni informed about our school and what has happened since everyone graduated.

Earlier this year, Jason Koegler, Vice-President of Institutional Advancement, hired Ms. Barbara (Werle) Brown, class of ’71, to generate more interest among our Florida alumni. Barb’s challenge will be to grow our alumni group and she will be helping to make our reunion a big success, as well.  To make this reunion as successful as possible, we would appreciate your attendance and hope that you encourage your alumni friends to join us in April 2012.

We have negotiated some terrific rates at the Marriott Resort and hope that you are able to stay even longer than the planned three day reunion. The low rates are good for April 10-17, 2012.  Consider this a vacation and bring along your children and grandchildren for some family time! Some of the available vacation activities include surf fishing, deep sea fishing, playing tennis/golf, swimming in one of the resorts four pools, dining, shopping, visiting museums, and so much more!  We will have plenty of tourist information for you in our hospitality room, but if you want to get a jump start on planning, go online and take a look at the resort and what the Stuart area has to offer.

West Liberty has been growing and much has changed at the University. We are looking forward to seeing you in April 2012. Remember to call your old friends and bring them along!
