Retired Employees Picnic with President

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Aug. 6, 2018 — The weather was perfect, the food delicious and the conversations enjoyable as retired faculty and staff gathered for the annual summer picnic, hosted by WLU President, Dr. Stephen Greiner and his wife, Nancy. The indoor picnic took place from 4 – 6 p.m., Thursday, July 26 in the College Union ballroom.

Enjoying the chance to recall their time at West Liberty are (seated from left) Jim & Carolyn Forrester, Rich & Anita Lizza, Rich & Marian Mullin, Marie & David Linden and Alice & David Javersak (standing).

“I’m always pleased to see West Liberty’s retired employees enjoying themselves on campus, where they spent so many years of their professional lives. The university benefits from their continued engagement in many ways,” said Greiner.

There were 56 people in attendance, including a few current members of WLU staff. Campus food service provider, Sodexo Dining Services, prepared a picnic-style dinner, beverages and desserts.

Guests also enjoyed music performed by the WLU Steel Drum Band led by Percussion and World Music Director Mitchell Greco.

Retired employees also attend a standing dinner meeting on the first Thursday of every month at Generations Restaurant. This monthly meeting begins at 5 p.m. and is open to any former WLU employee. For more information, please contact the Office of Alumni and Community Relations at 304.336.8888.
