A historic moment

for WLU.

On April 5, 2024, Dr. Tim Borchers was formally inaugurated as President of West Liberty University during a ceremony held at the Academic, Sport, and Recreation Complex (ASRC). The event marked an important milestone in the university’s history and reflected WLU’s commitment to leadership grounded in collaboration, innovation, and student success.

The ceremony was part of a week-long celebration of West Liberty University, culminating in the 2024 Topper Day of Giving, which raised more than $300,000 in support of students and programs across campus.

Our success is not dependent on our individual efforts, but on our collective work to ensure the best possible experience for our students. All of us in this room—faculty and staff, community partners, elected officials, philanthropists, alumni—play a role in our continued success and we must work together. Today, we face challenges due to changing demographics, pandemic after-effects, and financial constraints. We will respond as Hilltoppers always have—by setting goals, charting a pathway for success and mustering the passion, determination, and persistence to achieve our goals. We have every reason to be hopeful that we will achieve our aspirations.
